Balancing Light

Making lemonade with my son today turned into a little photo lesson. We both noticed how pretty the sunlight was coming through the lemon juice, so of course I had to take a picture.

The easiest way to get a good exposure on the foreground without blasting and over exposing the background is to simply bounce the light back on the subject with a reflector disk. I went for the gold side since it added to the warmth of the gorgeous afternoon light (my favorite type of light!). Both shots are exposed exactly the same, 55mm, f/4.0, 1/200, ISO 250. Nothing beats natural light…in my opinion.

LOVE our tiny, but abundant lemon tree!
